TMC pushes for renaming West Bengal to 'Bangla' during Zero Hour in Parliament
Salman Khan has upgraded the security measures at his residence in Bandra following a shooting incident outside his Galaxy Apartments in April 2024. The actor has installed bulletproof glass on the balcony of his apartment, a space frequently used by Khan to interact with his fans. This new security measure is part of an extensive renovation aimed at enhancing the actor’s protection. In addition to the bulletproof glass, a high-tech CCTV surveillance system has been set up around the building. Razor wire fencing is also being installed to further secure the perimeter of the property.
The shooting incident on April 14, 2024, involved two individuals on a motorcycle who opened fire outside Khan’s residence. The police investigation later identified the suspects as members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal group that has issued threats against the actor over several years. The shooting incident led to the arrest of the accused, with the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) invoked against the individuals. This attack was reportedly connected to the gang’s longstanding grudge against Khan, stemming from the actor’s involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which the Bishnoi community considers a significant offense.
Following the April shooting, Khan’s security team took immediate steps to bolster safety at his home. The bulletproof glass on the balcony is specifically intended to protect the actor when he greets his fans, reducing vulnerability during these public interactions. The high-resolution CCTV cameras have been strategically placed to monitor the road and surrounding areas, providing 24/7 surveillance of the building’s vicinity. The installation of razor wire fencing is an additional step to prevent unauthorized access to the premises and to safeguard against potential threats.
On December 5, 2024, a separate security breach occurred when a man entered the set of a film Khan was shooting in Dadar West, Mumbai. The individual attempted to watch the shooting without authorization. After being confronted by security personnel, the situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the man reportedly invoked the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Security staff called the police, who detained the individual, a local resident. This breach highlights the ongoing security challenges Khan faces due to threats from criminal groups.
Khan’s security concerns have been ongoing for several years. In June 2024, Navi Mumbai Police uncovered a plot to kill the actor when he was traveling to his farmhouse in Panvel. Despite these threats, Khan has continued to work on major film projects. His upcoming film Sikandar, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is scheduled for release in Eid 2025. Khan is also set to appear in Kick 2. The enhanced security measures at his Bandra residence reflect the heightened risks the actor faces due to the persistent threats from criminal organizations.
